Hickory had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Deep Creek on Wednesday. The Hawks never let the Hornets get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Hickory, bringing their record up to 13-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Deep Creek, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.

Coming up, Hickory will head out to face off against Menchville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Deep Creek, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Nansemond River at 5:45 p.m.
