Baseball Recap: Mount Desert Island Trojans vs. Cony Rams
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mount Desert Island had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cony Rams and snuck past 7-6. The win was some much needed relief for Mount Desert Island as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Mount Desert Island's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Colin Sullivan, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Sullivan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive pitching appearances. Jacob Shields was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Mount Desert Island's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Cony, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
As of now, neither Mount Desert Island nor Cony have any future games scheduled.
