Basketball Game Preview: Hopewell Vikings vs. Beaver Bobcats

Hopewell is 1-9 against Beaver since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Hopewell Vikings will head out to take on the Beaver Bobcats at 7:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Hopewell lost to Blackhawk at home by a 41-24 margin. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while the Cougars are ranked 24th).

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Beaver over Ambridge in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Beaver blew Ambridge out of the water with a 56-10 final score. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 24 points or more this season.

Beaver is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Hopewell, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Hopewell suffered a grim 59-34 defeat to Beaver in their previous meeting on January 3rd. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Beaver's Annsley Baker, who shot 4-for-6 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Now that Hopewell knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
