Basketball Game Preview: Marquette Catholic Blazers vs. Westville Blackhawks

The Marquette Catholic Blazers will challenge the Westville Blackhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Marquette Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 55-33 margin over Bowman Academy. Given the Blazers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Eagles are ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westville). They breezed by La Porte to the tune of 81-40 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Blackhawks sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

The win (which was Marquette Catholic's seventh in a row) raised their record to 19-4. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.4 points per game. As for Westville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season.

Marquette Catholic took their victory against Westville when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 64-42. Will Marquette Catholic repeat their success, or does Westville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
