Softball Recap: Seymour Panthers vs. Harrold Hornets

After a string of ten wins, Seymour's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 11-5 walloping at the hands of the Harrold Hornets. Seymour was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Harrold apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March.

Brileigh Hardin was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Hardin is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Hons, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

On Harrold's side, Jaylee Lowe made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Lowe was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, a stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Harrold got a massive performance out of Iyona Willie, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Mylie Maness, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5.

Seymour's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4. As for Harrold, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Seymour will square off against Quanah at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seymour is facing Quanah at the right time seeing as Quanah is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Harrold, they are on the road again on Saturday to play Electra at 11:00 a.m. Both teams have allowed few runs on average, (Harrold: 1.3, Electra: 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
