Baseball Recap: Fossil Ridge Has No Trouble Against Greeley West

Fossil Ridge won the last time they faced Greeley West and things went their way on Thursday too. The SaberCats put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 16-2 win. The result was nothing new for the SaberCats, who have now won six matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Luc Gaca-Thiele made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other pitching news, Connor Folkman looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

Back at the plate, Tyler Kephart was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Matt Lang was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Fossil Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Fossil Ridge's record now sits at 9-3. As for Greeley West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Fossil Ridge will venture away from home to face off against Heritage at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The SaberCats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Greeley West, they will be playing at home against Windsor at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
