Soccer Game Preview: Escondido Charter vs. Mira Mesa

The Escondido Charter Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Mira Mesa Marauders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a 12-game winning streak alive.

Escondido Charter is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past University City 2-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but the Tigers were the better team in the second half.

Abigail Gilbertson and Teagen Hustead scored both of Escondido Charter's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 28 goals.

Meanwhile, Mira Mesa kept a clean sheet against Foothills Christian on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Knights 1-0. The Marauders' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last 12 games.

Mira Mesa's win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those 13 contests. As for Escondido Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.
