Basketball Recap: Lake City Community Takes a Loss

Lake City Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 89-18 loss at the hands of the Sierra Grande Panthers. The 14ers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 57-4.

It was another big night for Jadyn Martinez, who almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, nine boards, and 11 steals for Sierra Grande. Those 11 steals gave Martinez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nehemiah Wilson, who went 5 of 9 en route to 10 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Lake City Community's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Sierra Grande, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.

Lake City Community is headed away from home for the first time to take on Non Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sierra Grande, they will host Creede at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th. Sierra Grande has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
