Baseball Recap: Cambridge Christian Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bell Creek Academy last Friday, Cambridge Christian came back down to earth. The Cambridge Christian Lancers fell just short of the IMG Academy White Ascenders by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday.

Cambridge Christian got a good showing from Trigg Listerman, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Furthermore, Listerman didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Brody Bellomo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Luca Gonzalez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Cambridge Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. IMG Academy White's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cambridge Christian will challenge Sarasota Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for IMG Academy White, they will square off against Imagine School at North Port at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
