Basketball Recap: Sandalwood Takes a Loss

If Sandalwood was riding high fresh off their 40-11 takedown of Parker last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sandalwood Saints took a 41-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mandarin Mustangs on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, Sandalwood still got an impressive performance from Jahkyra Rodman, who posted 16 points. Rodman continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kirsten Gudmalin, who scored eight points.

Mandarin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Reese Holman, who earned 14 points. Serenity Bustos was another key player, putting up nine points.

Sandalwood's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Mandarin, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season.

Sandalwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-43 loss against Episcopal School of Jacksonville on the 27th. As for Mandarin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 73-23 victory against Wolfson on the 23rd.
