Football Recap: Moffat County Bulldogs vs. Berthoud Spartans
Moffat County was the 14-13 winner over Berthoud when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Moffat County Bulldogs had to suffer through a 48-8 loss at the hands of the Berthoud Spartans. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Zachary Hedman and Owen Hill certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hedman rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown, while Hill rushed for 67 yards on only six carries. Hill got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 51 yards.
Berthoud had a senior duo take command as Skyler Streicher threw for 255 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes and Jayden Michaelis picked up 102 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards.
Moffat County now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Berthoud, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Moffat County will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Grand Valley at 7:00 p.m. on September 20th. As for Berthoud, they will square off against Weld Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
