Recap: Campbell County Cougars vs. Walker Valley Mustangs

The Campbell County Cougars and the Walker Valley Mustangs squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Campbell County Cougars had to settle for second. Campbell County had to suffer through a rough 74-33 loss at the hands of Walker Valley. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.

Despite the loss, Campbell County still got an impressive performance from Landen Hensley, who threw for 358 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Gabe St. John also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

It was another big night for Evan Schwarzl, who threw for 314 yards and five touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Hudson Makuch was another key contributor, picking up 94 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Walker Valley's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Conner Phillips was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.

Campbell County has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Walker Valley, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2.

Campbell County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Walker Valley will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lenoir City at 7:00 p.m. The pair might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games.
