Softball Game Preview: Coleman Cougars vs. Algoma Wolves

The Coleman Cougars will face off against the Algoma Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Coleman is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Wausaukee 17-1 on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Annabell Markiewicz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. She also put up three RBI, which were her first of the season. Alyssa Kurth was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Coleman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Algoma entered their tilt with Crivitz on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wolverines a 13-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Wolves have won by exactly 13 runs.

Coleman's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Algoma, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
