Baseball Recap: Vermilion Beats Willard for Their Fourth Straight Win

Vermilion waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Willard Crimson Flashes get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. Considering the Sailors have won three contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Vermilion's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Willard, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Vermilion will face off against rival Edison at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Sailors 3.8, the Chargers 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Willard is set to square off against their familiar foe Huron at 4:45 a.m. on Wednesday.
