Softball Recap: Archbishop Ryan Comes Up Short

Archbishop Ryan blew Lansdale Catholic out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Lansdale Catholic got their revenge. The Raiders and Ragdolls fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 7-5. The Raiders and Ragdolls just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Moira Maw put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Madison Tracey was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Jenna Osinski, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Archbishop Ryan's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Lansdale Catholic, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6-1.

Archbishop Ryan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lansdale Catholic, they will welcome Perkiomen School at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.6 runs per game on average), something the Crusaders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
