Basketball Game Preview: North Rowan Cavaliers vs. Mount Pleasant Tigers

The North Rowan Cavaliers will square off against the Mount Pleasant Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

North Rowan is coming into the matchup on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They strolled past South Stanly with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 62-44. The Cavaliers pushed the score to 49-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rowdy Rebel Bulls cut but never quite recovered from.

North Rowan had a senior duo take command as Allanah McAuthur dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds and Dasia Elder posted 18 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Elder's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kanya Cowan, who earned four points and nine steals.

Meanwhile, Mount Pleasant had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 55-20 victory over Gray Stone Day. With the Tigers ahead 31-9 at the half, the game was all but over already.

North Rowan's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Mount Pleasant, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.

North Rowan couldn't quite finish off Mount Pleasant when the teams last played back in December of 2024 and fell 41-39. Can North Rowan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
