Volleyball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short

After flying high against Kim/Branson on Tuesday, Springfield came back down to earth. The Longhorns fell 3-1 to the South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] Patriots on Thursday. The Longhorns have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 23-25, 25-14, 25-14.

Cobi Mackey paced Springfield's offense, picking up 19 kills. Mackey got some help from Dakota Reid and her 27 assists. Mackey was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] found their leader in freshman Brielle Bond, who had eight digs and four aces.

Springfield now has a losing record of 4-5. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Springfield has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Manzanola on the 27th. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Las Animas at 4:30 p.m.
