Recap: West Ranch Wildcats vs. La Habra Highlanders
The West Ranch Wildcats and the La Habra Highlanders squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the West Ranch Wildcats had to settle for second. West Ranch suffered a rough 41-21 defeat at the hands of La Habra.
West Ranch's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Luke DePerno, who rushed for 59 yards and two touchdowns, and Jack Samuelson who picked up 99 receiving yards and a touchdown.
La Habra's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Whitley, who picked up 200 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Whitley was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 64 yards. Brandon Giron and his 141 yards on the ground were also a key factor in La Habra's win.
West Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for La Habra, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
West Ranch does not have any more games scheduled as of now. La Habra will look to defend their home field on Friday against Murrieta Mesa at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Murrieta Mesa sitting on three straight victories and La Habra on four.
