Baseball Recap: Southwest Covenant Comes Up Short

Southwest Covenant lost against Destiny Christian back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Southwest Covenant fell 7-3 to Destiny Christian. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kale Karn was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Southwest Covenant is 2-1 when Karn posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise.

Karn wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tate Flanary, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Southwest Covenant now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Destiny Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest Covenant will challenge Christian Heritage at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Destiny Christian, they will face off against Sunrise Christian Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The game will give Destiny Christian their first taste of in-conference action this season.
