Baseball Recap: Kokomo Gets the Win

Kokomo was not the first on the board on Saturday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out the Cascade Cadets 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Wildkats: when they faced off against the Cadets on Saturday, they had to take a 4-2 defeat.

Logan Dockemeyer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kokomo saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Flamino, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. Eli Roe was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Kokomo is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cascade, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-4.

Kokomo and Cascade are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Wildkats will challenge Harrison at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Cascade, they will face off against Northview at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
