Basketball Recap: Iris Lin and Ella Babin Secure Win for Pope John Paul II

Pope John Paul II got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They blew past the St. Helena College and Career Academy Hawks 39-19 on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Jaguars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Pope John Paul II was led to victory by Ella Babin and Iris Lin. Babin posted 12 points and seven rebounds, while Lin dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards. Those ten boards gave Lin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grace Raimer, who had nine points and three steals.

Pope John Paul II's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-12. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.8 points over those games. As for St. Helena College and Career Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Jaguars duke it out with the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on February 14th. As for St. Helena College and Career Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on Baker at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
