Soccer Recap: Monarch Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Monarch can now relate to. They fell just short of the South Broward Bulldogs by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Bulldogs are ranked fourth).

Luca Lopez wasn't going to let South Broward walk away unscathed as he scored both of Monarch's goals, bringing his season total up to 14 goals.

The loss snapped Monarch's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-12-3 record. As for South Broward, the win was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-1.

Monarch does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Broward, they will square off against St. Thomas Aquinas at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Thomas Aquinas is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.7 goals per game this season.
