Basketball Recap: Denison Takes a Loss

Denison and Mt. Pleasant squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Denison had to settle for second. They came up short against the Mt. Pleasant Tigers, falling 70-47. While losing is never fun, the Yellow Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Tigers are ranked 72nd).

Mt. Pleasant was led to victory by Reggie Webster and Carter Chism. Webster to rack up 21 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Chism on his way to 17 points and seven boards. What's more, Chism posted two steals, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Zeke Hargrave was another key player, en route to 14 points.

Denison is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 22-10. As for Mt. Pleasant, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-6 record this season.

Denison does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mt. Pleasant, they have already played their next contest, a 55-40 loss against The Colony on the 21st.
