The Vero Beach Indians are taking a road trip to take on the Centennial Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vero Beach is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
Vero Beach will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Port St. Lucie on Monday. Everything went Vero Beach's way against Port St. Lucie as Vero Beach made off with a 22-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won five in a row.
Vero Beach got a great performance from Taylor Stevens as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kylie Williams, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Crysaria Joseph was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Vero Beach kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Centennial's offense. They came up short against Wellington on Friday, falling 9-0. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Eagles, who fell 2-0 when the teams last met back in May of 2023.
Hailey Brereton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
With the defeat, Centennial broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Vero Beach, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Vero Beach came up short against Centennial when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 7-4. Can Vero Beach avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
