Basketball Recap: Stephens County Comes Up Short

Stephens County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Athens Academy Spartans and fell 64-34. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 466th, while the Spartans are ranked 65th).

Stephens County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Athens Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stephens County will challenge Franklin County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stephens County is facing Franklin County at the right time seeing as Franklin County is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Athens Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Oglethorpe County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Athens Academy will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: Oglethorpe County will have lost four straight heading into Saturday's matchup.
