Baseball Recap: Wheeler Wins Going Away Against Putnam

Wheeler never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Putnam Clippers as they made off with a 10-0 win. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Clippers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Jack Lewis and Garett Lenihan made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Lewis tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Lenihan kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Lewis got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, while Lenihan got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run. Those two runs gave Lewis a new career-high.

In other batting news, Korbin Anderson was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. James Main was another key player, going 4-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Wheeler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Putnam only posted an OBP of .087.

Wheeler's record is now 8-4. As for Putnam, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Coming up, Wheeler will square off against RHAM at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Putnam, they will face off against Lyman Memorial at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
