Softball Recap: Everett Alvarez Takes a Loss

Everett Alvarez extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 2-7. They lost 10-4 to the Carmel Padres. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Padres since Friday.

Alyssa Hinojosa made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexia Meza, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

As for Carmel, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

On Carmel's side, Olivia Tringali was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Tringali was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Annabella Schroeder was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Delilah Herro, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

While Everett Alvarez had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
