Baseball Recap: Jordan Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cabrillo last Friday, Jordan came back down to earth. The Panthers took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jackrabbits this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 last Saturday.

Jordan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oswald Martinez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The Panthers are 3-1 when Martinez posts two or more runs, but 4-8-1 otherwise. Talin Velazquez was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Jordan has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9-1 record this season. As for Long Beach Poly, they pushed their record up to 8-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Jordan will challenge rival Millikan at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Long Beach Poly is set to take on their familiar foe Cabrillo at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
