Football Recap: Sickles Gryphons vs. Spoto Spartans
Sickles had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-9 to make it seven. They took a blow against the Spoto Spartans, falling 49-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gryphons of the 52-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.
Jacob Curry threw for 62 yards on five of 18 attempts. Joseph Naylor was his top target, picking up 53 receiving yards. On the ground, Ethan Dietz rushed for 30 yards.
As for Spoto, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 39 points or more this season.
Spoto got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jesse Harden out in front who picked up 122 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. What's more, Harden posted two receiving touchdowns, the most he's had since back in August. Another signal caller making a difference was Giovanni Sbabo, who threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes.
