Soccer Game Preview: Woodruff vs. Newberry

The Woodruff Wolverines will challenge the Newberry Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Woodruff is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Mid-Carolina just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 2-1. The loss was the Wolverines' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Newberry entered their game against Swansea on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Newberry took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Swansea.

Newberry's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Woodruff, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Woodruff was able to grind out a solid win over Newberry in their previous matchup back in March of 2020, winning 4-2. Will Woodruff repeat their success, or does Newberry have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
