Softball Recap: Potosi's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Potosi dropped their record down to 10-11 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West County Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent loss being a 9-3 defeat back in March.

As for West County, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

For West County's part, Grace Barton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Barton has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grace Lynch and Maylee Merrill did most of the damage at the plate: Lynch went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Merrill went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave Lynch a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lacey LaMarr, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

As of now, neither Potosi nor West County have any future games scheduled.
