Softball Game Preview: Eau Claire North Huskies vs. New Richmond Tigers

Eau Claire North is 1-7 against New Richmond since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Huskies will host the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

New Richmond will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Eau Claire North extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Huskies never let River Falls get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Huskies this season.

Ally Quaschnick was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, earning two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Madison Pond was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Those hits were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Claire Gruna, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Eau Claire North hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Falls struck out nine times.

Meanwhile, New Richmond beat Wausau West 11-6 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

New Richmond now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Eau Claire North, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

Eau Claire North suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to New Richmond in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
