The East Aurora Blue Devils will face off against the Alden Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. East Aurora has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Friday, East Aurora came up short against Griffith Institute and fell 11-6.
Sage Rozanski put in work while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off nine hits. Rozanski was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Rozanski wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caelan Legg, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, Alden put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over Eden. 16 seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
The team relied heavily on Brooklyn Jankowski, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Waiss, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Alden kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in eight consecutive matchups.
Alden pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for East Aurora, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Aurora hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .410. However, it's not like Alden struggles in that department as they've averaged .497. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Aurora might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Alden in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
