Trailblazers are No. 7 in California after beating then No. 10 Helix in Southern California Division 1-AA regional final.

Sierra Canyon also has a football team. A very good one in fact.
The Trailblazers won their second straight Southern California Regional Bowl championship Friday with an impressive 38-20 win over previous No. 10 Helix.
Chayden Peery completed 16-of-18 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown and four different rushers ran for a score as Sierra Canyon improved to 14-1 and plays Central (Fresno), which improved to 13-0 with a 38-32 over No. 23 Oak Ridge-El Dorado Hills, in the CIF State Bowl 1-AA championship Friday at Cerritos College in Norwalk.
The seventh-ranked Trailblazers lost the state championship game 19-17 last year to Liberty (Brentwood), which was a huge factor in Friday's victory. Winning a state crown would do a lot for the football squad which often gets overlook to the school's nationally ranked and recognized boys basketball program.
The basketball team has won back-to-back Open Division titles and roster is filled with national recruits and high-profile players, such as
Bronny James, son of LeBron James.
“I was just motivated to get back (to the state championship game),” Perry told the
Los Angeles Times. “Get redemption and right that wrong.”
Central stayed put at No. 9 following its victory at Oak Ridge. The Grizzlies got a big game from big-play and Cal-bound receiver
Jeremiah Hunter (11 catches, 135 yards, two touchdowns).
In another big Southern California showdown, No. 6 Corona de Mar (15-0) used its defensive prowess to knock off unranked Oceanside 14-7 in Division 1-A championship play. The Sea Kings, who average better than 500 yards and 50 points per game, were held to 262 — about half of its normal numbers — and
Ethan Garbers completed 13-of-24 for 157 yards and a touchdown, a 40-yarder to Simon Hall. Garbers also added a 1-yard sneak, and the defense did the rest.
Corona del Mar now faces a Serra (San Mateo) squad that lost its starting quarterback
Daylin Mclemore on Oct. 25, but has rebounded to win six of seven behind sophomore
Dominique Lampkin, who rushed and passed for a touchdown last week in a 28-18 win over a very talented San Joaquin Memorial (Fresno).
The Serra-Corona del Mar game is also at Cerritos College, 4 p.m. Saturday.
The state's heavyweights, No 1 St. John Bosco (Bellflower) and No. 3 De La Salle (Concord) battle at Cerritos College 8 p.m. Saturday for the Open Division. The teams have faced off twice in the championship game, with Bosco winning both, 20-14 in 2013 and 56-33 in 2017.
