Basketball Recap: Lincoln Prep's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

If Lincoln Prep was riding high fresh off their 63-32 takedown of Trivium Prep last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lincoln Prep Lightning took a 52-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Benson Bobcats on Thursday. The Lightning's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Lincoln Prep lost, don't look at Dionte James. Despite the final result, he posted ten points and four steals. Those ten points gave James a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Parker Filleman, who earned eight points.

Even though they lost, Lincoln Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Benson can attribute much of their success to Domonik Villa, who put up 18 points and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Judd, who had eight points along with 13 boards and three steals.

Lincoln Prep's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Benson, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Lincoln Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-43 defeat against NFL Yet Academy on the 11th. As for Benson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 71-42 loss against Thatcher on the 6th.
