Preview: Martinsville Bluestreaks vs. Pawnee/Lincolnwood

The Martinsville Bluestreaks will head out on the road to face off against the Pawnee/Lincolnwood at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, Martinsville faced River Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Martinsville blew past River Ridge 50-8 on the road. Martinsville pushed the score to 42-8 by the end of the third, a deficit River Ridge had no chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, even though Milford/Cissna Park scored an imposing 38 points on Friday, Pawnee/Lincolnwood still came out on top. Pawnee/Lincolnwood was the clear victor by a 58-38 margin over Milford/Cissna Park. The win made it back-to-back wins for Pawnee/Lincolnwood.

Carson Wort continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 247 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Wort was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. Dakoda Koyne also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

Pawnee/Lincolnwood's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Milford/Cissna Park's QB won't forget Collin Chevalier anytime soon given Chevalier sacked him five times.

Their wins bumped Martinsville to 8-2 and Pawnee/Lincolnwood to 6-4.

Everything came up roses for Martinsville against Pawnee/Lincolnwood when the teams last played back in September as the squad secured a 52-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Martinsville since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
