Softball Recap: Catoctin Cougars vs. Brunswick Railroaders
While Catoctin's win against Brunswick wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Railroaders a 2-0 shutout on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted against the Railroaders since April 25, 2019.
Taylor Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double.
