Baseball Recap: White Pigeon Comes Up Short

White Pigeon dropped their record down to 9-10 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Comstock Colts, falling 9-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Chiefs have suffered since April 11th.

As for Comstock, their win ended an 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-13. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17th (when they won 16-0).

For Comstock's part, Tyler Baker was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Baker has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Comstock: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, Brandon Smith and Karson Snapp did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Snapp went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave Snapp a new career-high.

Looking ahead, White Pigeon will challenge Colon at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Comstock, they will face off against Lawrence at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
