The Melrose Buffaloes will take on the Grady Bronchos at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Melrose is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.1 runs per game this season.
Last Thursday, Melrose made easy work of Floyd and carried off a 28-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Buffaloes in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won seven in a row.
Ty Windham was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, Nolan Devaney was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Melrose is undefeated when Devaney posts three or more RBI, but 7-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Max Sena, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and three runs.
Melrose kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. They are 9-3 when they post 11 or more hits.
Logan hit Grady with a six-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bronchos lost 12-2 to the Longhorns. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Deakin Ragland made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Rawley Bone also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Melrose's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Grady, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Melrose hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .427. However, it's not like Grady struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Melrose came out on top in a nail-biter against Grady when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Buffaloes repeat their success, or do the Bronchos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
