Basketball Game Preview: Wilby Wildcats vs. Rockville Rams

The Wilby Wildcats will square off against the Rockville Rams on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Wilby came up short against Woodland Regional and fell 53-41. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their loss, Wilby saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ja'Nell Saunders, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards, was perhaps the best of all. Saunders is becoming a predictor of Wilby's success: when she posts at least ten rebounds the team is 11-5 (and 1-4 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Joi Jackson, who posted five points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Rockville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Tuesday as they fell 46-41 to Windsor Locks.

Rockville has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. Wilby's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.
