Baseball Game Preview: Boulder City Eagles vs. Virgin Valley Bulldogs

Boulder City and Virgin Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Eagles will welcome the Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Boulder City is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against The Meadows School, sneaking past 8-6. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Tate Crine tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Boulder City got a big performance out of Will Teeples, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Teeples has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gavin Robinson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Boulder City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Virgin Valley sidestepped The Meadows School for an 11-10 victory. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by just one run.

Boulder City's win bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Virgin Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 18-8.

Boulder City got the 'W' when the teams last played on Thursday against Virgin Valley by a conclusive 15-7 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
