Softball Recap: Canton Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Thursday. Canton came out on top against Lindale by a score of 12-8. The win was familiar territory for Canton, who have now won four contests in a row.

Rylee Busby made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Kara Pride and Lily Cervantes did most of the damage at the plate: Pride went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Cervantes went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bailey Koonce, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Canton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive matchups.

Canton's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-6-2. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.2 runs. As for Lindale, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-9-1.

As of now, neither Canton nor Lindale have any future games scheduled.
