Volleyball Recap: Village Mountaineers vs. The Classical Academy Titans
After flying high against Sand Creek last Thursday, Village came back down to earth. The Mountaineers came up short against The Classical Academy Titans on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The Mountaineers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.
While Village was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-17, 25-12.
Norah Hollis paced Village's offense, picking up 13 kills. Hollis got some help from Addison Miller and her 28 assists.
Avery Jaeger went supernova For The Classical Academy., getting 34 assists and nine digs. Those 34 assists gave Jaeger a new career-high.
Village's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for The Classical Academy, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Village didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Ralston Valley on the 29th. After both having extra time off, The Classical Academy and Mesa Ridge will shake off the rust and duke it out at 8:00 a.m. on the 6th.
