Basketball Recap: Xavier Prep Comes Up Short

If Xavier Prep was riding high fresh off their 63-36 takedown of Cathedral City on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Xavier Prep Saints were beaten by the Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets 60-28 on Saturday. The Saints have struggled against the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Palo Verde Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zaraivion Crowe led the charge by putting up 14 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Crowe is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Yasias Green was another key player, going 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Xavier Prep's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Palo Verde Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-5.

Xavier Prep will welcome Yucca Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Xavier Prep is facing Yucca Valley at the right time seeing as Yucca Valley is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Palo Verde Valley, they will venture away from home to take on Indio at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Palo Verde Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season.
