Football Recap: Wakefield Starts Season with Defeat on the Road + How To Watch

Wakefield kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 38-17 to the Falls Church Jaguars. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Xavier Winkelmann and Judah Connor certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Winkelmann picked up 140 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Connor threw for 176 yards and a pair of TDs. Winkelmann showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 50 yards.

Looking ahead, Wakefield will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Rock Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Falls Church, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against George C. Marshall at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
