Basketball Recap: North Callaway Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when North Callaway challenged Fayette on Monday. The North Callaway Thunderbirds fell 52-43 to the Fayette Falcons. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Defeat or not, North Callaway got some senior leadership from Lakyn Hartley and Natalie Shryock. Hartley went 5 of 9 on her way to 11 points and five steals, while Shryock went 6 for 15 en route to 15 points. That's the most steals Hartley has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Livia Hartley, who posted six points in addition to nine boards and three steals.

North Callaway now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Fayette, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season.

North Callaway didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-37 win against Wellsville-Middletown on the 21st. As for Fayette, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-8 victory against New Bloomfield on the 21st.
