Softball Recap: Pasquotank County Victorious

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Pasquotank County and Hertford County meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. Pasquotank County's pitcher stepped up to hand Hertford County an 18-0 shutout. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Emma Bailey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bailey was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Marissa Norman was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Addison Foster was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Pasquotank County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Pasquotank County back to even at 3-3. As for Hertford County, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Pasquotank County is taking a road trip to take on Holmes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pasquotank County's pitchers better be ready for this one: Holmes has averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. As for Hertford County, they will host Northeastern at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hertford County is facing Northeastern at the right time seeing as Northeastern is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
