Saint Mary and Vallejo are an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2018, but not for long. The Panthers will take on the Redhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Saint Mary's has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since September 6.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 54-21, which was the final score in Saint Mary's tilt against Salesian College Preparatory on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 948th, while the Pride are ranked 425th).

Although Saint Mary's took the loss, they still got scores from Adam Steiner and Aluzio Zarnowiecki.

Meanwhile, Vallejo was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They took down De Anza 27-13.

Saint Mary's better keep an eye on Carlisto Valetino. He was instrumental in Vallejo's win, rushing for 137 yards on only 15 carries, while also picking up 33 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Those 137 rushing yards gave Valetino a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jevonte Hines, who picked up 114 receiving yards and one score.

Vallejo's record is now 6-3. As for Saint Mary's, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Saint Mary's was taken down by Vallejo 54-27 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
