Basketball Game Preview: Coventry Oakers vs. Scituate Spartans

Coventry is 0-5 against Scituate since February of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Coventry Oakers will head out on the road to square off against the Scituate Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Coventry has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Coventry took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 54-27 win over Middletown. The victory was some much needed relief for the Oakers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Scituate faced Smithfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Scituate blew past Smithfield 68-44. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.

Scituate is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Coventry, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Coventry might still be hurting after the 53-33 defeat they got from Scituate in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Coventry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
