Volleyball Recap: Mt. Vernon's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Mt. Vernon and Yorktown squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Mt. Vernon had to settle for second. They fell 3-1 to the Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Loss or not, Mt. Vernon got some senior leadership from Aubry Dowling and Makenna Thompson. Dowling had 16 digs and one assist, while Thompson had ten digs. Dowling has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 15 times she's played.

With the defeat, Mt. Vernon broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 20-10. As for Yorktown, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season.

Mt. Vernon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Yorktown, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Greenfield-Central on the 18th.
